Tattoo Aftercare Guide

Taking proper care of your new tattoo is essential to ensure it heals well and looks vibrant for years to come. Follow these aftercare steps to protect your ink and prevent infections.

1. Keep It Clean

Gently wash with warm water and fragrance-free soap using clean hands, and carefully pat dry.

2. Wrapping for Protection

For the first 4-5 days, wrap with clingfilm when in dirty environments, and remove as soon as possible to allow airflow. Try to keep it wrapped for 3-4 hours at a time maximum before changing.

3. Moisturising

Apply a thin layer of tattoo aftercare balm or fragrance-free moisturiser 3–4 times daily. Don’t apply too much at once.

4. Avoid Picking or Scratching

As your tattoo heals, it may scab or peel—this is normal. Do not pick at the scabs or scratch the area, as this can cause scarring or loss of ink.

5. Protect from Sun Exposure

Direct sunlight can fade your tattoo, especially during the healing process. Keep it covered or apply a high-SPF sunscreen once it has fully healed.

6. No Swimming, Sauna, or Soaking

Avoid swimming pools, hot tubs, saunas, and baths until your tattoo is completely healed, as prolonged exposure to water can cause infections or fade the ink. Stick to quick showers instead.
